7 COMMON FOODS THAT CAN MAKE YOU HAPPY!
It is no surprise that eating contributes to happiness as they have been a go-to for any emotionally stressed person. Being happy and having a feeling of well being is imperative to mantaining our cardiovascular system. Specific foods have been known to help maintain a happy mood. They are;
1. FISH.
Fish is not only a good source of protein, they also bring happiness too. This is primarily due to it's high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids which helps to improve your mood and elevate mild depression. Oily fish such as Salmon also contains Vitamin B12 which helps in the production of serotonin which is a neurotransmitter that aids in feelings of well being.
2. POULTRY.
Chicken or turkey contains amino acids which can help you maintain a happy mood. Like the salmon fish, they are also neurotransmitters in them that are responsible for controlling your mood. Careful though, excessive intake of chicken may cause sluggishness.
3. MILK.
Apart from having abunance of nutrients, milk also plays an important role in our moods. One reason is that it contains iodine which is important for proper thyroid fuction. The thyroid gland regulates all the entirety of the body functions through the hormones it produces, including your mood. Another is due to the presence of protein which alleviates anxiety.
4. COCONUTS.
Coconuts are one of the most eaten nuts in the world. They contribute to happiness when eaten because of it's high levels of triglycerides which aids your mood and promotes brain health. Note that excess dosage of coconut milk is quite unhealthy. Natural pieces of coconuts are preferable.
5. CHOCOLATES.
Everyone knows that there's an extra joy that comes with eating chocolates. Apart from having a milky/chocolaty taste, they contain a group of chemical called N-acyclethanoloamine which stimulates channels in the brain to release endorphins (the body's pain relieving & pleasure feel chemical).
6. PASTA.
Yes people! Foods like noodles, spaghetti and other forms of carbohydrates are good for you. They are called man's comfort food for a reason. The carbs are great because they release energy slowly whilst simultaneously helping you feel full and satisfied. They also contain amino acids -L-pheny-lalanine and tryptophan which releases endorphins which helps elevate your mood.
8. HONEY.
Honey can be used to elevate your mood because it contains kaempferol and quercetin which reduces inflammation in brain and therefore helps to prevent depression. Honey has less effect on your blood-sugar level which means there will be no sugar crash to leave you tired or depressed.
