10 SURPRISING THINGS YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T SHARE!

Sharing is caring, at least most times. There are some boundaries to sharing irrespective of your relationship with the person in question. Here are 10 things you shouldn't lend to anyone.

1. EAR BUDS/ EAR PIECE.

Ear buds really? Yes ear buds. Ear buds generates a lot of bacteria from the ears. The bacteria increases when you're exercising because the added warmeth and moisture makes it easier for bacteria to build up.

When you share buds, bacteria like staph and strep can stay in the ear wax and cause infection, boils or pustules. Plus it's really gross to see someone's wax stuck on your buds. Now you have a good reason to decline.

2. LIP BALM.

Yes girlfriend, it is absolutely sister sister to share lip balm but it's not that advisible health wise. Bacteria can transfer from the membrane of your mouth into the blood stream. Lips have an extensive network of blood vessels under the surface, ready to absorb anything you apply on the mouth including germs.

Herpes simplex virus which causes cold sores can be spread between two people sharing ChapStick, even if the infected person has no visible sores. So let's ride solo on this one girls.

3. ANYTHING IN A JAR (VASELINE, GEL, HAIR CREAM).

Anytime someone dips their finger into a jar, new germs contaminates the entire jar so they go to the skin or hair or any other purpose the product serves. This can spread bacteria like streptoccocus and staphylcococcus (which some people carry harmlessly on their skin).
This may cause folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles). So sharing jar products is a no-go.

4. SHOWER SHOES/ FLIP-FLOPS.

If you wouldn't wear a random person's old dirty flip-flops, you probably shouldn't borrow a friend's pair. They are actually a very personal item.

It is easy for fungus to and bacteria from a person's foot to live on the shoe especially if the shoe is often wet. It's possible to transmit warts, athlete's foot and even a virus called molluscum, which causes acne like white-heads on the skin.

5. TOWELS.

Towels are a spreading ground for germs especially when hanged in a wet bathroom. Contaminated towel can transmit fungal infection to the skin, acne-causing bacteria and pink eye.

Experts advice washing your towel after four times of usuage and making sure it is completely dry before use. So get 2 spare towels just in case.

6. NAIL CLIPPERS.

Most of us might be aware of this one. No matter how clean and spotless the person's nails look, nail clippers pose a treat to our health becauses places like the fingers, toes and soles are were fungus and warts hide out.

Sharing can lead to nail fungus or even a rare virus, it is advisible to keep your clippers to yourself.

7.  RAZORS.

Everyone knows we shouldn't share razor, but let me remind you why you should take it seriously. This days people use razor to shave and when you shave, razor collects dead skin cells mixed with bacteria. So the more people using it, the more risk for infection.

People carry harmful infection without knowing it, so you can't really tell if their property is one you should keep away from. Need I mention the terrible diseases this could cause? Do not share, better safe than sorry.

8. ANTI-PERSPIRANTS / DEODORANTS.

We really don't like sharing our deodorants because of selfish reasons, I mean they are really expensive this days. So what if I give you an absolutely good reason not to? Contaminated sticks can cause infection if germs gets into nicks from shaving or ingrown hairs.

Some work by killing odour-causing bacteria so the antibacterial properties provides added protection but others not so much. The organic kinds just mask the smell with fragrance, so it's easy for underarm germ to grow on the stick.

9. TOOTHPASTE.

Well, if we're being critical, there is a chance of getting infection by sharing the same toothpaste. If you push the end of the tube into the bristles, the tube can harbour bacteria were it touched the tooth brush which is transmitted with each use.

If you must share, avoid touching the end of the tube to the brush or wipe after each use.

10. EARRINGS.

Not earrings too! Well, it is possible to transmit blood-borne infection in this process. But if you must, remember to sanitize the earring post with alcohol before and after use.
